A New Year, a New Man

daily scripture commentary

This year, I’m going to be doing something new here on World Light Review. On my personal site, LuisAntonioMiguel.com, I detail how I’ve set some pretty lofty goals for 2016 with respect to  achieving what I call “greatness.” They include starting a million-dollar company, learning a new language, and writing a book. You can read that article here.

However, those goals are more professionally and temporally oriented. They’re admirable things to want to achieve, but they don’t encompass the whole spectrum of my values.

Here, I want to describe what I plan to achieve spiritually  in 2016. These are the goals:

  1. Read the Standard Works (LDS scriptural canon) during the year. That means Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price.
  2. Attend the LDS Temple Once a Week to Participate in Ordinances
  3. Memorize 100 Scripture Passages
  4. Visit Someone with a Gospel Message Once a Week

Pretty basic stuff, but they’re activities I know will strengthen my faith and character. By being square with the Lord, I know He’ll bless abundantly in all aspects of my life. And I’m certain I’ll witness many miracles in my life and the lives of those around me.

I’l be chronicling those experiences on this site. Additionally, I’ll be sharing a brief commentary to go along with my daily readings. My hope is that these will not only reinforce my own learning, but provide valuable insights to others in their scripture study.

Thank you for visiting. I wish you the best in your endeavors this new year.
